The benefits of WebClip2Go for online retail
Video-based retail sales content is key!
Blog
In last week’s blog we discussed how difficult it is to say ‘hey, our product is exactly what you need’ in times where ‘exactly what you need’ has come about because of difficult and challenging times.
But when it comes down to it, the fundamental idea of WebClip2Go has always been about being able to achieve professional results with a ‘one man crew’, in incredibly modest amounts of time.
The fact that that holds incredible value now – when people can’t leave their houses or engage in normal social behaviours – doesn’t detract from the fact that actually, it’s incredible valuable whenever, regardless of the distance we need to keep between us.
So whilst last week we focused on education, in this week we’d like to frame the benefits in terms of online retail.
We’d like to present to you a hypothetical situation. For this little thought experiment, I’m afraid you’re going to have to imagine you’re a lady with your eye on a particularly gorgeous dress. This will be harder for some of you to imagine than others.

Scene One: You walk into a shop – the dress you have been dreaming of is right in front of you. When you see it, you can see exactly what the shade of red is, and how it shimmers under the light. You can see the cut, flare and length – even without trying it on you have a good idea of the viscosity of the material and the way it will hang.
And, even better – were you to have any doubts, you can take it to the changing room and see how the dress fits on a ‘real’ person, how it moves and flows, how it looks perfect from the front, but… a bit like a sack of potatoes from behind. And – just when you’ve fallen in love but realise that in the real world you’ll have to wash this gorgeous dress, you can check the label for washing instructions.
Scene Two: Now, you’re online. There’s a beautiful dress. It looks stunning on that static, tall and gorgeous model (but you just know it’s pinned behind her back to fit so well, and airbrushed afterwards). You can’t quite tell what shade of red it is and whether it’ll match your shoes. You don’t know if the material is rich silk or a much lighter knock-off. And who knows what washing machine settings it requires. You could post a question to the seller, but it’ll take them ages to get back to you and the information is often vague.
At best, you simply don’t buy the product.
And at worst, you buy it and are immensely unsatisfied. You send it back – costing the seller return fees, and possibly resulting in a lost product (this is a fantastic article that shows how many firms simply haven’t got the resources needed to sort through returns to determine quality, so everything ultimately heads to landfill: costly and bad for the environment).
You also tell your friends how rubbish the product was, and for good measure you leave a bad review on the website.
Now as a retailer, you can see how much damage has been done here. You’ve lost money in administration, and potentially on the complete product. And to boot, you’ve earned negative publicity.
Why has this happened?
Because all you’ve done through your online platform is provided ‘a place to buy’ rather than ‘an opportunity to sell’. And this is key.
Video is transformative in terms of sales. It’s particularly valid in the example above – with clothes, where you can see movement and fit and nuance. But really, it applies anywhere where you might want to take just one minute to communicate the benefits of your product – but also, crucially – be realistic about its limits. A product without much of an explanation promises the world, because the consumer instantly inserts their own expectations into the situation. But there’s nothing worse in sales than mismanaged expectations. Customers tend to assume, and you know what they say about assume – it makes an ass out of u and me.

Video content can circumvent all of these problems. It can create a compelling, realistic and convincing portrait of your product – instantly enhancing the consumer desire to click ‘buy’.
It’s just a shame that creating video content for each of your products is so time consuming and expensive, right?
Wrong…
We posted this for teachers last week, and we’ll repeat the exact same thing here. Working with WebClip2Go completely changes the game when it comes to video production. Why?
Our answer is simple and based on four key facts:
The standard of video produced is professional quality
But
It only takes *one* person to create it! (pretty key for social distancing…)
And
That person can learn how to use the full system in just two hours
And and
Once they’ve learnt it, they can literally produce a professional quality video in just 15 minutes.
Imagine that in just one day you could have made compelling, instructive sales-orientated videos for your entire product range. WebClip2Go makes that possible – a minimal investment for a significant increase in sales conversions, and an even more significant impact on customer satisfaction and waste/administration waste.
The world of online sales is changing – now just now in these few months when consumers are unable to hit the shops, but well into the future. Make sure you’re at the forefront of this revolution.
