WebClip2Go Install ‘Senate Room’ Recording System for Utrecht University

Moves the system beyond DIY studio to full, any-context, automated production facility

Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _10 January, 2024

Utrecht University has selected WebClip2Go to provide an automated recording system, installed in-situ in their grand ‘Senate Room’, where PhD candidates undertake their viva – a process in which they are questioned upon and defend their submitted doctoral thesis. More than 200 of these events are carried out on an annual basis, and the WebClip2Go system was deemed to meet the stringent requirements of the university, which needed the system not only to ensure academic integrity in the most efficient and reliable way possible, but also to produce high quality, professional-grade recordings to honour the significance of each occasion and mark it for posterity.

Utrecht University commissions all of their technology implementations through preferred supplier JNV, who after a rigorous testing and comparison of various recording systems identified that the WebClip2Go system was unrivalled in the smooth, easy-use-nature of its automation workflows, and the quality of the output delivered.

webclip2go-installed-two-systems-utrecht-university-educationThis was particularly true given the very specific demands of viva recording; whilst certain elements of the procedure are easily automated (such as the entry and exit ceremonies), the back-and-forth dialogue-based nature of the procedure itself required more sophisticated solutions. WebClip2Go provided for this with its VCP feature, which engages in automated switching based on who is speaking. The system can also be adjusted to randomize reaction shots to create a more naturalistic recording – replicating the experience of being in the room and witnessing the viva thesis defense live.

From a hardware perspective, the WebClip2Go system brought together four Canon PTZ cameras, meaning that pan, tilt and zoom movements could be added to the shots (also on an automated basis), creating a more dynamic, less static feel to the recording. Dante audio input and Televic systems were also supported, allowing for crystal clear audio capture, with Cisco and Crestron systems facilitating remote video conference attendance and the control of auxiliary equipment, such as additional screens. With the MAX WebClip2Go model supporting eight simultaneous input sources, even the most complex of viva presentations could be recorded without issue.

Alongside the technological challenges of the job, the logistics associated with the installation were also crucial. Only six weeks were available for the removal of the existing system and installation of the WebClip2Go-based replacement. Off-site testing was therefore crucial, alongside an approach to service delivery and installation that was efficient, professional and meticulous.

Commenting on the project for WebClip2Go, CEO Gerrit Bulten said: “This installation at Utrecht University represents a natural evolution of application for a system that itself has been evolving for years –  moving beyond its exclusive role as a DIY studio, and allowing it to operate also as a full video automation system, capable of handling productions in any space or context. This versatility will prove to be of growing importance to higher education providers, who are integrating video into their operations in increasingly sophisticated ways”.

WebClip2Go Completes Sale of Two Systems to Saxion University

The Presenter systems have been installed in Deventer and Enschede

Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 13 December 2023

WebClip2Go today announces completion of a recent deal with Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Saxion Hogeschool), which saw the installation of two WebClip2Go Presenter Systems at locations in both Deventer and Enschede. These Presenter systems have been integrated into the Kaltura Media Asset Management System – which the university already uses – and thus allow teachers to create new content and deliver it through their established e-learning streaming platform.

Saxion University, established in 1998, provides over 100 different applied courses to a student base of more than 27,000. Priding itself on the delivery of forward-thinking, technology-led education, it is not just the subjects themselves which focus on technological innovation, but the teaching delivery methods also. Resultantly, the university supplements all of its in-person teaching with online videos which students can revisit at their own convenience, providing a learning experience that is both more flexible in terms of student access, and more targeted towards individual learner needs. They reached out to AV system and solution providers Cue Support for consultation and advice, and after careful analysis of the university’s needs, Cue Support were able to confidently recommend WebClip2Go.

webclip2go-sold-two-systems-saxion-university-nederlandWith the WebClip2Go Presenter System, tutors are able to create their own unique, reusable video lessons and educational clips, using PowerPoint to create both the content and structure of their video. Once created, teachers simply deliver their video to camera in a single take, with the video rendered immediately. Green screen background, colour grading, transitions, titles, video clips, illustrations, animations, music and audio effects are automatically inserted according to the prompts set within the initial PowerPoint template. With no need for post-production editing, the system can be used by anybody with only fifteen minutes of training, and grants the ability to produce multiple professional-grade videos using the same underlying template in a very short space of time.

When combined with the fact that videos can be repeatedly re-used as educational resources across classes, this speed of production maximises the efficient use of teacher time and ensures that teachers can devote themselves to delivering improved one-to-one contact time with students, rather than delivering repetitive lectures or creating a constant output of learning resources. A number of universities also grant student access to the studio – which itself is small, self-contained and highly automated – allowing students a novel way to produce knowledge outputs that incorporate real-world, employable skills in a way not matched by traditional essays, reports or exams.

Commenting on the sale, WebClip2Go CEO Gerrit Bulten said: “This recent implementation at Saxion Hogeschool is a strong indicator of WebClip2Go’s growth – not only in terms of market penetration and the increasingly extensive use of the system across universities in Europe, but also the growth of the system itself: integrating an increasing range of innovative functionalities that benefit students and teachers alike, whilst all the while avoiding additional complexity. Ease-of-use remains at the forefront of our thinking, and WebClip2Go remains highly innovative in the way that it turns the video production process on its head, making content creation readily available to everybody, with no need for professional experience”. He concluded: “We’re very proud to have two systems installed at Saxion University, whose mindset towards the deployment of innovative technology in higher education has always been leading in the field. Much thanks must be given to Cue Support, who have proved to be exceptional and like-minded supporters of the WebClip2Go philosophy and product range, and are instrumental in helping us communicate the potential of our system to a wide range of customers”.

WebClip2Go to Launch ‘hardware-lite’ Video Production System at OEB 2023

WebClip2Go to Launch ‘hardware-lite’ Video Production System at OEB 2023

it integrates the entire system into a single ‘working desk’ for education

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 6 November, 2023

WebClip2Go will be using their attendance at OEB in Berlin (Booth C13) to unveil the radical new redesign of their WebClip2Go DIY studio, which now eliminates almost all of the traditional hardware components of a studio, whilst still achieving real-time rendering and processing using only its powerful software configuration. The elimination of many units-worth of rack space not only saves energy, space and cost, but also simplifies the setup and maintenance process, and makes the studio even more accessible to non-technicians and those with no professional background in video production.

The revolutionary new implementation of the WebClip2Go system still maintains the core philosophy and functionality of the original system, which itself represents an innovative new method for video production that allows anybody to make a video in mere minutes. By effectively reversing the production/editing process and having users develop the ‘edit’ template before shooting their footage (which can even be achieved just by creating a standard PowerPoint to trigger content, script and transition prompts), the user then merely needs to enter the studio, deliver their scene or presentation to camera, and the video is assembled and rendered immediately. With an increasing range of automated features also, the video presenter can take a truly hands-off approach to the creation of their video, focusing only on delivering their content clearly and compellingly.

The net result is a video production system which allows those with no experience at all to create videos that have professional-grade production values, but which have been assembled, shot and delivered in a fraction of the time. Moreover, the use of a template structure means that the creation of repeated videos with similar formats – such as those used for educational content – becomes even easier. The system has a proven track record in the field of education, with a number of universities across Europe integrating as many as four WebClip2Go systems across their faculties, allowing both students and teachers improved ways to communicate knowledge.

OEB-webclip2go-germany-education-video-production-teachers-studentsThe new ‘reduced hardware’ setup brings all of this innovation and power and reduces its physical and environmental footprint. Even though the original WebClip2Go system was already small enough to fit into existing spaces far smaller than a conventional TV studio – such as meeting rooms or offices – the new ‘hardware-less’ setup makes it even more compact. This makes it easy for organisations to take existing facilities and quickly and easily repurpose them into studios, without the need for complex conversion. All that is required is the core WebClip2Go box, along with teleprompter, camera, microphone and light.  This vastly reduces the amount of cables, the number of points of failure, and the required space for the hardware. Moreover, it allows for near 100% remote maintenance and upgrade, and reduces the number of external buttons and connections which a non-technical user might accidentally interfere with, thus reducing the capacity for user-generated errors.

In addition, this reduction in hardware has allowed WebClip2Go to integrate the entire system into a single ‘working desk’. Capable of integrating both a PC and screen for the creation of Powerpoint templates, and a touch screen for drawing overlay comments during delivery of the video, the desk is electrically adjustable in height and holds the entire system. Cables with sufficient length are attached to the desk and roll out to the prompter, the camera(s), the microphone(s) and the light, making the system compact, clean and streamlined, and minimising trip risk and installation complexity.

Speaking of their attendance at OEB, CEO Gerrit Bulten said: “OEB is one of the most important events in the annual calendar for us, and with each passing year the centrality of video in educational delivery becomes more and more apparent. Right from the beginning, the WebClip2Go system was ideally placed to meet this need in the most straightforward, easy-to-use way possible. Now, with the incredible strides we’ve made in taking all of that original hardware power and making it possible to achieve using only software, we are more confident than ever that people will immediately recognise the value that WebClip2Go holds for educational institutions of all sizes”.

He continued: “Moreover, OEB will give us an opportunity to engage not only with direct end-user clients, but to also meet with potential distributors as we seek out business partners who share our vision and drive, and recognise the inherent appeal that the WebClip2Go system has for potential customers”.

WebClip2Go Introduces AI-driven Chat Show Workflow

WebClip2Go Introduces AI-driven Chat Show Workflow

It reacts to the speaker and switches camera or shot type as required

 Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 10 July 2023

WebClip2Go – innovators in the field of crewless, editless production solutions – today announces release of its AI-driven Chat Show feature, which harnesses AI technology to manage the full production workflow, and thus allows for a single presenter to create, produce and host simultaneously, with no need for a crew or post-production process.

Chat Shows typically utilize a number of cameras to capture both wide-angle and reaction shots of presenter and interviewees, and switching between these is a key element in controlling the look and feel of the content. An effectively produced chat show does not follow a specific formula, nor is it simply ‘reactive’ to who is speaking; instead, it has traditionally used human judgement (either in the moment, requiring exceptional production skills, or in the edit room) to capture action and reaction in a more dynamic and naturalistic manner. Previous attempts in the market to automate this process have tended to produce rigid and artificial outputs that are detectable by audiences.

The new AI-driven system from WebClip2Go fully replicates the naturalism of human-driven production, but requires no crew. Making use of AI and voice activation technology, the Automated Chat Show function reacts to who is talking, switching camera or shot type as required. However, it goes far beyond mere reactivity, which in isolation would produce monotonous and clearly artificial results. Instead, the AI system allows for a range of programmable parameters to be set which create a more fluid, dynamic production. Thus, the camera does not merely linger on whoever is speaking, but can be programmed to engage in switching according to certain rules; such as an ‘impartiality’ rule to ensure no one speaker dominates, or a ‘randomised’ function which cuts away for reaction shots. This randomisation can be set according to style and pacing preferences, matching the nature of the subject matter and content, and/or meeting the varying expectations of different audience demographics – particularly important in the realm of TikTok and social media-driven engagement. Titles and relevant graphics can also be pre-programmed for insertion.

Whilst WebClip2Go have offered crewless Chat Show production for a number of years, this has taken the form of manual switching, controlled using a discreet panel held by the presenter. Whilst highly usable, it requires significant focus from the presenter to both manage the technical elements of the production and perform their role as moderator and participant effectively. The introduction of AI management releases the presenter from this burden and allows them to focus their entire attention on the job of presenting.

The AI system further enhances the broad range of crewless production solutions offered by WebClip2Go, which include Chat Show, Green Screen and Runway presentation setups, and make use of a comprehensive range of intuitive template-driven control solutions, including full control through PowerPoint. This means that the learning curve on various WebClip2Go setups is virtually zero; users can be up and running within 15 minutes and through the repeated use of templates and formats, can produce multiple videos in a fraction of the time associated with conventional editing processes, whilst still achieving the highest production values. This makes WebClip2Go ideal for corporate communications – using either Chat Shows to engage in thought leadership, or Green Screen to-camera monologues to deliver product demoes or presentations. It has also seen significant adoption in educational markets, with teachers leveraging the more dynamic approach of video and chat shows to engage students.

Speaking of the new AI-driven functions, Gerrit Bulten – CEO of WebClip2Go – said: “We wanted to create a workflow that was entirely hands-off for the user, but which produced a result that was as naturalistic as any workflow handled by a sentient crew. In this way, the AI-driven WebClip2Go doesn’t just enhance the production by replicating existing industry conventions for a fraction of the cost and time, it also allows the presenter to focus on their main task – presenting – and thus enhances the nature of the production in terms of its actual content too”.

WebClip2Go Installs New System at University of Granada

WebClip2Go Installs New System at University of Granada

Installation sees addition of Spanish language to teleprompter speed control

Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 20 June 2023

WebClip2Go today announces completion of the sale of their innovative production studio system to the University of Granada. Installation of the new system will enable the academic staff at Granada to augment their teaching with the production of in-house educational and explanatory videos that supplement student learning and allow them to access valuable resources in their own time, and at their own pace.

The University of Granada (UGR) – the fourth largest university in Spain and primary Erasmus destination for European students – was founded in 1531 by Emperor Charles V, and now maintains a student base of 60,000 students across campuses in Granada, Ceuta and Melilla. Ranking highly in the delivery of linguistics, computing and mathematics courses, the University of Granada is committed to providing progressive and innovative ways for students to engage with their learning.

The WebClip2Go system provides exactly this potential. Available in six different configurations, UGR were able to select the system that met their needs in terms of functionality, technical output and budget. The Presenter System selected by Granada incorporates everything needed to create a miniature studio; including camera, mics, light, teleprompter, control unit and greenscreen, and thus allows for presenters to deliver lessons, lectures and videobites to camera, using a greenscreen background and range of professional video effects to augment their message. The University of Granada also added optional tablet functionality to their setup, allowing them to draw images onscreen as they present. Installed within a DemVox soundproof booth to reduce outside disturbance, the system takes up a marginal on-site footprint.

But it was not just the small footprint that attracted UGR’s interest. Unlike other video production systems, WebClip2Go turns the editing system on its head. It allows users to pre-load templates, script and video elements – including greenscreen background, colour grading, transitions, titles, clips, illustrations, animations, music and audio effects. The script is then fed to the teleprompter (which uses speech recognition to regulate the pace of display), and presenters enter the studio to deliver their presentation in a single take, with transitions and elements added automatically and rendered immediately. This eliminates the need for post-production editing, and means that teachers can re-use template elements to create videos quickly and maintain a consistent aesthetic across their outputs.

More than this, through use of the PowerPoint module – also selected by the University of Granada in their installation – users are able to setup and load these templates simply by creating their content in a PowerPoint presentation. Commands within the PPT trigger transitions and other elements, whilst the slide itself provides the greenscreen background, and the notes section provide the script that appears on the teleprompter. This remarkable ease of use means that anybody can be trained to deliver a video to camera without any need for additional experts, in the space of just 15 minutes.

university-granada-webclip2goSpeaking of the way they will be using the system, Marisa Garcia Arias, Audiovisual Communications Engineer at University of Granada said: “Delivering an exceptional learning experience to our students is a top priority at the University of Granada. Increasingly they are looking for versatile ways to learn, especially as many are Erasmus students who may travel internationally and not always be present for on-site lectures. The WebClip2Go system provides remarkable potential in allowing our teachers to create reusable resources, in turn granting them more time to engage meaningfully with students in one-to-one contexts. The ease-of-use also means that we can actually allow our students to utilise the system, providing innovative new ways for them to output their learning, whilst arming them with practical, employable skills”.

Gerrit Bulten, CEO of WebClip2Go, said of the installation: “The march of WebClip2Go across the major educational institutions of Europe continues apace. This extension into Spain also sees us add speech recognition for Spanish, alongside our existing capabilities in English, Dutch, German and Norwegian – and we will be adding new languages at the request of new clients as we continue our European expansion. We are pleased and proud with the feedback we received from the University of Granada, not only in relation to the capabilities of the system, but the quality of sales, service and installation that has supported the process”.

WebClip2Go to Launch Version 2.3 Release

WebClip2Go to Launch Version 2.3 Release

Brings host of improvements to innovative production studio

Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 15 June 2023

WebClip2Go – innovators of a unique DIY studio hardware and software solution – today announce the upcoming release of version 2.3 of the WebClip2Go integrated system. The new release will build upon the exceptional functionality already embodied within the holistic video production studio, and will include a range of features which add to the functionality, usability and integrability of the system.

Since its inception in 2018, WebClip2Go has offered a fully integrated, crewless video system which makes professional-level video production available to everyone. The WebClip2Go format turns the video creation process on its head, simplifying editing components and moving them to the front of the workflow. This involves ‘pre-creating’ scenes – in which all of the graphics, titles, effects and transitions have already been set, allowing a presenter to deliver direct to camera in one shot. These scenes – and the script for the teleprompter – can even be created directly through PowerPoint, so no specialist knowledge is required.

Evolving from its original ‘talking head with greenscreen’ format, subsequent versions of WebClip2Go have added live switching, talkshow and catwalk modalities to the system – making it ideal not only for educational applications, but also corporate, retail and fashion contexts. In addition, recent integration of AI control systems allow functions to be accessed hands free, creating a naturalistic production without the need for any crew.

Now, with version 2.3 – one of WebClip2Go’s biggest release extensions to date – WebClip2Go will introduce a range of features which augment these novel workflow approaches. These improvements include:

webclip2go-launch-release-2.3-new-video-productionMulti-lingual support: The existing WebClip2Go system is able to control the speed of the teleprompter by monitoring the speed at which the presenter is delivering the content. Previously available in either English or Dutch, this function can now track speakers of over 10 different languages.

Kaltura support: Kaltura, a leading on-demand educational video SaaS platform is now fully integrated into the WebClip2Go system, making transition from production to delivery workflows seamless.

Multi-viewer for live and/or voice controlled production, and Webex/Teams: Video creators who want to add to their production by bringing in external sources can now monitor these as they deliver to camera live, though integration of a Multiviewer.

Canon PTZ camera support for Voice Controlled Production: Voice control and AI automated switching are part of what set WebClip2Go apart from traditional chatshow/interview productions, and this voice control has now been extended     to work with Canon PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) cameras, to deliver a dynamic and naturalistic output.

Joy-stick control for animated motion control: WebClip2Go allows for animations to be easily integrated into video outputs in a range of ways, which now includes the ability to control animated motion with a joystick.

Manual colour correction for all sources, plus improved waveform monitor and vectorscope: Whilst WebClip2Go integrates a range of automated workflows to control aspects such as colour correction and matching in order to make the system intuitive to use – even for those who have never used editing systems before, it also incorporates a range of high level editing features to allow those with production experience greater levels of control and flexibility over their output.

An improved DMX editor to allow easy assign and identification of external hardware elements: DMX control is not only a core part of automating the production environment (including lighting and physical effects) but – when combined with WebClip2Go’s new recorder product release for museums and exhibitions – will allow for physical integration of the video playout with its environment, with the capacity to set markers within the video which trigger effects such as lighting, smoke effects or a revealed display.

A range of improvements in terms of user flexibility and intuitiveness: Ease-of-use has been improved yet further through the integration of features such as auto-file delete to reduce the time spent engaging in file maintenance, and the ability to customise the teleprompter in more detail to meet the preferred workflow of the user.

Speaking of the new additions, WebClip2Go CEO Gerrit Bulten said: “Our initial ‘small studio’ system allowed users to create greenscreen productions in the fraction of the time of a normal production, with no previous editing knowledge, and with only the need for camera, lights, teleprompter, greenscreen and a WebClip2Go unit. Since then we’ve hugely extended the workflows and production types that can be handled with WebClip2Go, whilst still retaining our core philosophy; making professional-grade video production available to everyone”.

He continued: “Version 2.3 works to extend that usability in two directions; on the one hand further simplifying the production process for video novices, but on the other, extending the level of customisability, flexibility and creative control that can be realised with the system – meaning that people with greater levels of production knowledge can benefit from the remarkably higher efficiency of the ‘back-to-front’ WebClip2Go workflow, whilst being able to exercise greater influence over the creative direction of their video”.

Concluding his statement on the new release, Bulten said: “The AI integration improvements that we have made – now further refined with release 2.3 – have been the crucial next step in making WebClip2Go the go-to solution for crewless production, with users able to deliver videos in a fraction of the time of a ‘standard’ production, after only 15 minutes of training. This has been vital in the education market, where both teachers and students are increasingly demanding the ability to leverage video as part of the learning process, and as a result we have seen universities across Europe – including the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK – and some of them even purchased multiple studios to keep up with usage demand”.

WebClip2Go Announces Automated Chat Show Creation

WebClip2Go Announces Automated Chat Show Creation

System can be used to create live panel shows, interviews and webinars

 Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 10 January 2023

WebClip2Go today announces the launch of its Automated Chat Show function, an expansion of the wider WebClip2Go video production system, which puts professional-grade video production capabilities in the hands of everyday users. On top of its PowerPoint-driven production system, which allows for more traditional ‘talking head’ videos to be created, WebClip2Go has for many years also offered a LiveSwitching add-on, which allows presenters to engage in dynamic, unscripted switching between cameras, to add titles and transitions as desired. With this, presenters used a discreet button panel to make switching choices as they present. However, with the new Automated Chat Show function, the responsibility for switching becomes entirely automated, leaving the presenter hands free and able to devote their full attention to delivering content to camera.

automated-talk-show-WebClip2GoMaking use of AI and voice activation technology, the Automated Chat Show function reacts to who is talking, switching camera or shot type as required. However, it goes far beyond mere reactivity, which in isolation would produce monotonous and clearly artificial results. Instead, the AI system allows for a range of programmable parameters to be set which create a more fluid, dynamic production. Thus, the camera does not merely linger on whoever is speaking, but can be programmed to engage in switching according to certain rules; such as an ‘impartiality’ rule to ensure no one speaker dominates, or a ‘randomised’ function which cuts away for reaction shots, and can be set to different time parameters in order to set the pacing of the production. Titles and relevant graphics can also be pre-programmed for insertion.

The net result is the ability to generate a full chat show without any crew at all, and with no need for post-production editing. This continues the philosophy of the WebClip2Go system as a whole, which has been designed from Day One to turn the video creation process on its head by simplifying editing steps and moving them to the front of the workflow. In the ‘basic’ version of WebClip2Go, this is applied only to ‘talking head/delivery-to-camera’ productions in front of a green screen (such as those associated with the weather, or the presentation of educational content). Under this traditional WebClip2Go setup, users can ‘pre-create’ scenes in which all of the graphics, titles, effects and transitions have already been set. Through this, the presenter is able to follow a script and deliver directly to camera in one shot, with the output rendered immediately.  The original WebClip2Go system even allows for these scenes – and the script for the teleprompter – to be created directly through PowerPoint, further enhancing the status of the system as ideal for prospective content creators to deliver professional-grade outputs even with no professional experience.

talk-show-automated-webslip2goBut the decision of WebClip2Go to focus on enhancing its Chat Show/Interview-based capabilities stems from recognition of the constantly changing video landscape. Maintaining audience interest in an increasingly saturated mediascape means increasing the dynamism and engaging nature of content. Whilst structured and scripted ‘presentation-based’ content retains strong applicability in markets such as education, increasingly audiences seek spontaneous, authentic interactions as their preferred way to access information and entertainment – for instance, in Podcasts, Webinars and online Chat Shows. WebClip2Go builds in all the tools needed to achieve these kinds of productions, with no prior expertise, minimal setup, immediate output and no need for a crew. Any individual or group can create a professional-grade Chat Show in the time it takes to hold a conversation. This has applicability in educational, corporate and even retail settings (with a specific fashion/catwalk orientated automated setup also available), but also increasingly has applicability for amateur content creators who are looking to adopt a more professional and profit-orientated creation mindset.

Speaking of the increasingly automated nature of the WebClip2Go system, CEO Gerrit Bulten said: “Reducing the costs, space and technical requirements traditionally associated with filming and editing has always been our raison d’être. But with more than 25 years in the broadcast industry, we also know how to make content that engages. Through automation, we are able to embed those principles of effective content creation directly into the system – guiding content creators to produce something dynamic, exciting, authentic and entertaining. Coming on the back of our recent ‘knowledge clip’ development, which has been a huge success at a number of tradeshows, we are confident that both existing and prospective users will quickly see the remarkable potential of this new automated Chat Show addition”.

WebClip2Go to Launch Knowledge Clip at OEB 2022

Will build upon growing recognition of innovative, crewless production system

Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 24 October, 2022

WebClip2Go – an offshoot of Dutch-based Burst Video – will be exhibiting at the OEB 2022 in Germany (Stand B50). Building on their success from last year, they will focus again on showing educators how quickly, easily and cost-effectively video content can be introduced into learning. At the classroom level they will be outlining to teachers how video significantly enhances the learning experience of students, whilst at the administrative level they will be showing how the integration of a full mini production studio into a university setting provides significant competitive advantage; allowing the university to offer flexible, hybrid and remote learning, leverage maximum value from their knowledge resources, teachers and experts, meet the needs and expectations of their students, and position themselves as an educational brand of global repute.

With a global, cross-sector reach, OEB provides an opportunity for educators to explore the latest developments in learning technology, learning from experts through conference attendance and tradeshow demonstrations.

webclip2go-launch-knowledge-clips-education-oeb-event-berlinOf particular interest at OEB 2022 will be WebClip2Go’s focus on ‘knowledge clip’ production; quick, bitesize explanations of complex concepts that students can access as supplementary content to clarify their learning. Furthermore, when configured according to the Live switching setup, tutors can create a one-to-one Q&A ‘interview clip’, which allows students to explore issues in more depth. These provide a more naturalistic, dialectical way to engage with the subject matter – analogous with TV talk-shows in their style, making them more engaging and entertaining for students used to chat show and podcast-style content. Regardless of configuration, WebClip2Go allows teachers to deliver and record these videos using a range of automated processes which eliminate the need for any crew at all. This includes voice-activated control of the full system; from start to finish, with every prompt and transition in-between triggered by audio prompts or pre-set conditions.

WebClip2Go will be demonstrating their unique approach to video production, which eliminates the need for post-production editing and allows teachers to create multiple videos in a fraction of the time, simply by delivering their lesson to camera in front of a green screen. Despite still representing a remarkably innovative product on the market, WebClip2Go’s increasing visibility means that it has now become a well-established name in the educational sector, with multiple installations (as many as five at some institutions) at universities such as Delft university, KU Leuven, Rotterdam, and Groningen.

And whilst the ability of the WebClip2Go system to output videos instantly – rendered in real time – is based on a system which leverages high-powered hardware to obtain maximum operational efficiency, the focus of the booth demonstration will be on how little technical knowledge is needed to use the system. Its intuitive workflow and straightforward GUI – along with PowerPoint integration, which allows teachers to manage the full production process using only a PowerPoint project – mean that users can be up-and-running with just a few hours of training. The small footprint of the studio also makes it remarkably flexible in terms of installation possibilities.

Talking of the growing recognition of their product in the educational market, Gerrit Bulten – CEO of WebClip2Go – said: “It doesn’t just make good business sense to improve student outcomes, it’s a moral imperative for all educators. And study after study has highlighted the importance of visual learning; many students improve their academic outcomes dramatically when content is delivered to them in a way that matches their learning style, and which can be watched at a student’s own pace. We foresaw the introduction of knowledge clips as an important educational tool based on our decades of TV experience, and we’re now able to make them accessible to all”.

He continued: “More than this, we help educators widen access to education. Facilitating remote learning and creating reusable resources which can lower the overall cost of education whilst maximising reach is a direction that all universities should be heading in. WebClip2Go represents a key tool in achieving this goal”.

Eindhoven University Acquire WebClip2Go Studio

Eindhoven University Acquire WebClip2Go Studio

They join a growing range of educational institutions making use of video

Press Release

Veenendaal, The Netherlands _ 5 July, 2022

WebClip2Go – an innovative new DIY (Do-It-Yourself) video production system – has recently secured a sale of a comprehensive studio and system to TU/e Eindhoven University of Technology. The university will use the system to provide video presentations to its students, and as mechanism for interacting with incubator projects from companies that are developed through the TU/e Innovation space.

The WebClip2Go solution represents a completely unique approach to the production of presenter-based video content – turning conventional approaches to editing and filming on their head, and allowing non-professional users to create professional-level outputs. With increasing penetration across the Benelux Higher Education sector, WebClip2Go represents an ideal solution for students and teachers alike, since it allows teachers to create re-usable videos on their own using only PowerPoint, and – unlike other systems on the market – requires only minimal system-specific training: a new user can be up-to-speed in 20 minutes. The entire faculty can utilize the system without there needing to be a specialist technician on site to supervise each production – they simply access the templates that have been set according to their needs.

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is a research university specializing in engineering science & technology. Founded in 1956 by industry, local government and academia, the university maintains a strong focus on collaboration, challenge-based learning, knowledge exchange and student entrepreneurship. Their motivation for the purchase of a WebClip2Go studio therefore came firstly from their reputation as an educational facility that uses technology to provide the best possible learning experience. Thus, for students, the ability to access educational materials in video format, at their own time, at their own pace and from remote locations provides significant learning benefits. In addition though, in pursuit of their mission to facilitate knowledge exchange, student entrepreneurship and industry-relevant skills development, TU/e will also be using their studios to allow students new ways of outputting their learning and knowledge, facilitating the development of further technical and creative skills that have wider applicability in the commercial world.

The WebClip2Go system allows for this because of its intuitive nature, and the fact that a user can self-produce a video (with no crew) in the length of time it takes to record to camera, in a single take, with no post-editing required. Using a green screen and teleprompter, it is ideal for any ‘presenter to camera’ production, with the content of the PowerPoint dictating the background and visual effects/transitions, as well as feeding the teleprompter with the script directly from the PowerPoints notes section. Rendered in real-time, the video is completed the moment the presenter finishes recording.

university-Eindhoven-technology-research-buy-webclip2go-studio-video-educationWhilst the education market constitutes one of the sectors to most benefit from this technology, the basic system and the range of additional customisations available also mean that WebClip2Go can be used in diverse industries; retail, fashion, corporate, news and weather – and is particularly suited to applications where there is a  need to create repeated videos of a similar format. Users have been able to create as many as one hundred short videos in a day – a fraction of the time and cost of traditional production approaches.

Speaking of TU/e’s acquisition of a system, Gerrit Bulten – CEO of WebClip2GO – said: “Eindhoven is joining a growing range of universities who are recognizing the importance of providing a progressive, tailored approach to their students’ learning. WebClip2Go is an immensely versatile, effective and efficient learning tool – its intuitive approach means teachers and students can pick it up in minutes, and create video outputs to be proud of”.
